Beyond Layers Day 44

an image challenge with Kim Klassen

This was great fun to do! I am slowly working my way through the flickr group and everyone elses versions.
PS My spellcheck has stopped working?

Ho Hum

Can't you just feel the joy of being outside on the grass, the touch of the gentle spring  sun, hear the water flowing....................I can

Things  are a little quiet on the blogging circuit no more people to visit...................
I need to think of a mission statement and have decided to take the weekend to think on it...........should I be pathetically honest or make up something inspirational? I don't want to seem like a Nigel.

Today I am restless, I need to get away and am thinking I might take a 2.5hr drive to the beach after I cut Mums disgustingly long toe-nails. I just remind myself , one day it will be me but with less marbles.

Today I decided to have a go at editing a couple of my photos ( I have told you I suck at photography, right?)

Oh No!

I collect pretty pictures, almost 3T of them,  I don't know where they came from, some of it is just too long ago however
if it's yours or you know whose it is just let me know and I will more than happily give them credit!
Lovely isn't it!

It's lesson three on how to blog and we had to fill in a chart listing the main characteristics of our favorite blogs. I have too many so I did it randomly and horror of horrors they all have white or nuetral backgrounds.
It took me FOREVER to get my background to change on every page, if you hit refresh you will keep getting different background. I had help of course from the cutest blog on the block but script and me, well, I can say there was a lot that could go wrong and did! I loved this idea because I just couldn't choose from all the backgrounds out there they were so pretty. I hope it doesn't mean they will have to go................

Here is my homework

One of my fave blogs to visit is she can make something out of nothing!
Another I follow is she takes great photos of where she lives and I love her art!

Click on the above and it will enlarge.
I am a learner, I should have an L plate LOL! A learner painter, a learner crafter, a learner blogger and most of all a learner in life. I was once young and carefree and "misunderstood" like all teens but life has seen fit to teach me some lessons. I have learnt to survive. To be a carer, not easy for me. To stop fighting for what I see as mine by right ( ego) and to treasure those you love. So many more lessons to come.
I saw somewhere we were to post a pic of a coffee cup, it may have been Beyond Layers, anyway here is mine.

I love this cup and you can get it at

Blogging course with Kim and Xanthe

The course has begun and I will do it on here. There is a linky I will upload but I have to go find it. Baby steps. First day is why you blog and my why is that when you have been married thirty something years you need someone to talk to. LOL!  Hubby can't believe all the silly things I think about,.most women do. There's my thirst for art and creating. I will do almost anything to fill that need, the world is so full of stimulation.
Then there's "Day in the life" thing. I plan on printing it and keeping it for prosterity. I hope my grandchildren will be interested in a glimpse of the past and what the world and my life were about back in the 21st Century! LOL!  I imagine the world they will live in and its just so different and exciting!

Lots of new photos

I have a new project YAY! I just love it when I get a new project, I consider them blank canvases!  Mind you, I don't mind admitting, I threw a huge hissy fit when the idea was first broached that I give up
my studio  (that I had waited my whole life for)  to make accommodation for my daughter. I was disgraceful actually, until my wise son asked "which is more impotant?"  No contest obviously!
So we got together and squeezed all my stuff into the garage. It was a humongous job we were all totally worn out!
now ensconsed in the garage

some of my favorite bits

love the texture of this cream

this one wrinkled

the wrinkles look cool but will take forever to dry

curly bits
I am in love with this floor treatment and I am hoping it will look really cool in the finished room.
Did I mention that funds are extrememly limited so this flavours all my decisions and also that I hope to reclaim it as a studio in 18 months time. Hence, I dont want to build rooms.
What do you think? It's going to be such fun!

I have made my first paper flowers, did I mention that I am, "craft challenged", being blind and all thumbs. I do enjoy playing with paper though! You dont have to be great, just having fun is what it's about!

We also put up our new chicken abode as we are getting a couple of chooks, I hope they will be able to free- range with the dogs and just get locked in their roost at night.Fingers crossed!
it will never look like this again, all shiny and new

Have a great day!
PS The blogging course starts today and I have to go to town and begin to  paint Mum's wall.

Another find!

Zao Wou-ki

by Clairan Ferrono
( Copied and pasted not my work.)

Wou-ki Composition 1958
Composition 1958
Recently while hurrying through the Art Institute (Chicago) to see the Vollard Exhibit (fantastic!), my eye was caught by a painting I’d never seen before, by an artist I’d never heard of: Zao Wou-ki. It was a beautiful abstract, on the small side, in a room of really interesting contemporary art. (They’re doing a lot of construction there, so I may never be able to find this room again. . . .) In any case, I was so struck by this painting that I came home and looked the artist up on the net.
According to Wikipedia, Wou-ki was born to a wealthy Beijing family of letters in 1921, studied calliagraphy, Chinese brush painiting and Western oil painting at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Hangzhou, where he was a professor from 1941-1974. He moved to Paris in 1948, and from then until 1974 he painted as an abstractionist.
Composition 1985

Subsequently  he decided to return to painting in the Chinese style as well.

The Marlborough Gallery has a wonderful site showing many recent works by this talented artist:
Recently one of his paintings sold for 3million dollars at Sotherbys.
I hope uypu enjoy him as muchas I do!

A New artist I love!

Fede Saenz (Federico Saenz-Recio) was born in Argentina in 1976, he emigrated to the United States in 2003 and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. Trained in Graphic Design at F.A.D.U. University of Buenos Aires.
Saenz abstract paintings incorporate instinctive childlike doodles over a grid, where the journey of life is celebrated by juxtapozing contrasting elements: Freedom vs. Control. In a struggled fight they randomly spread and intercom with each other.
It is this journey that Fede manifest with the instinctive and unfinished, celebrating human imperfections.

I just had to share his workI  found him on Stumbleupon this morning!
PS A word of warning Stumbleupon is very addictive!

Just a normal day

This morning my daughter Joanne

Jo and her Dad

came out for coffee early. I love seeing her. Later I went to Mums and received and put away her groceries and swept the kitchen. Larry

came too, for a visit, because it was his turn, yesterday I took Jimmy,

they both loved the opportunity to visit Nanny and go in the car.
